![]() ![]() I’d say that the S4 is slightly better than the output from Apple’s smartphone under most circumstances, while shots from Nokia’s stabilised PureView Lumia 920 to me feel slightly warmer, although I think this is down more to post-processing of the image than the optics. "I’d pick out the Apple iPhone 5 and the Nokia Lumia 920 as the handsets you would want to compare pictures taken on S4 to. I think I’d go so far as to say it’s one of the best Android smartphones for taking pictures. It’s not always about the size, it’s about the quality of the image, and I’m happy to write that the Galaxy S4 is a very good smartphone camera. It’s a 13 megapixel shooter that produces some of the largest images of any smartphone currently on the market. If they were universal then I could see them being adopted widely by users, but as they are they are nice technology demonstrations, they help make the S4 handsets stand out when they are being demonstrated to a customers, but in real life I found them little more than novelties." Part Three: Imaging and the S Apps. "Along with the eye tracking facilities in Smart stay and Smart scroll, I think Samsung have made a mistake in having these UI elements only available in a handful of apps on the Galaxy S4. For example Air jump is present in Samsung’s web browser, but not in Chrome. The two other navigation moves, Air jump (scrolling up or down the screen), and Air browse (tabbing left and right) are not global moves, they are only available in a number of applications. Honestly, if my hand is that close, I’d rather switch the handset on. First is the Air glance, where you can see some notification details (missed calls, texts, and emails) by holding your hand momentarily above the sensor. ![]() "These provide for some nice party tricks, but not ones that I would really use in everyday life.
